About this time last year I spent a not so quiet Saturday with my friend and her son watching Darwin Chung Wah Society performing their traditional lion dance for the Chinese New Year in the office where we worked. I no longer work there but was invited to come along and so got to see it all over again!
This post here explains more about the Lion blessing so I won’t repeat it again here but below are some photos and a video.
We didn’t realise just how loud the music is when we watched it from the office last year but watching it on the street at 8.30am outside a hotel block made us wonder what the people staying in the hotel thought might be going on!
After watching the office being blessed by the lion we visited one of my favourite restaurants called Moorish for breakfast which was amazing, the food was so good we didn’t even stop for a photo but the coffee was great and quite cute too!
The lion also visited us again (and in a few other places around the CBD) and we had a lovely morning shopping where I discovered a chocolate shop full of yummy homemade chocolates! I will be visiting that shop again for sure.
After the early start and extremely exhausting eating and shopping morning (!) it was time to head home for a long nanna nap! It really is a tough life sometimes.
I also want to wish my Mum and Dad a very Happy Anniversary for today xxx
