It is now well and truly Autumn here in Brisbane and I love it! The weather has improved considerably and by that I mean it is a lot cooler and the perfect temperature.
I thought that I would put together an A to Z of Autumn and the things I am looking forward to in Brisbane during the Autumn months.
Autumn – of course this had to be A, it is the season after all!
Byron Bay – Byron Bay is just over the New South Wales boarder and has been on my to do ist for a while now. I am really hoping we can make it there in the next few weeks for a visit.
Colder and sunny – the weather is currently ranging from about 15 degrees C overnight to 24/25 degrees C during the day. We’re getting a bit of rain but really this weather is perfect. Sunny during the day and cool overnight which is perfect for me.
Duvet Days – It is almost time to put the duvet back on our bed. I love getting into bed and snuggling under the duvet feeling all cocooned and warm and cozy!
Evenings – the sun is setting early for us again now and it is quite nice to get home as the sun is setting and for the long evenings to start.
Family – My family are travelling from the UK to spend time with us in Brisbane in July and I am very excited for them to arrive. I’m in planning mode for what we can do when they arrive.
Gatherings – we met up with our American friends today and whilst wandering around Southbank afterwards we noticed there are a lot of outdoor spaces where friends and family can meet for dinner and in the perfect spot for sunset. I am hoping we can arrange to meet up there a few times over the next few months.
Health – I plan to keep working on my health, diet and keep on exercising. I am loving going to the gym, enjoying Park Run and the sponsored walks I have been doing and have great support with my diet now that I am getting closer to my final weight goal. My Doctor is very happy with my health improvements as well which is fantastic. I don’t think I have ever got such great results at the Doctors before.
Ink – still debating a tattoo, if I do get one what it will be and where.
Jeans – Darwin was not the ideal location for wearing jeans so I didn’t really own any for the four years or so we lived in Darwin. When we moved to Brisbane the first thing I did was buy jeans and some jumpers to tide me over during the winter months and it is finally time again to wear jeans and I LOVE it! The pairs I bought are getting to be a bit big now so I need to hunt down the new perfect pair as I keep loosing weight.
Keep doing the event walks like the Million Paws Walk and Bridge to Brisbane. We may also do a coastal walk as well but it will depend whether we are moving house and if so on what date.
Love is in the air – Prince Harry and Megan Markle are getting married next month and I am excited to watch their wedding on the tv or even at the movies as a few seem to be showing it live.
Moving House (hopefully) – I have mentioned before that our landlord is looking at increasing our rent when our lease renews. Initially the Aussie was keen on moving, then wasn’t too sure but we have had a look at what is around and found a couple of houses we really like and have applied for. The only problem we may have is that we are not looking to move for a few weeks so they may turn us down but fingers crossed we’ll be offered one or both of them and can get ready for moving.
Netflix – It has been a busy month or so and we haven’t had very much time at home to relax or binge watch any shows so I am looking forward to a few quiet days / nights at home to catch up on the shows.
Organise – my paperwork and also doing some grown up things like writing my Will! That is a long time overdue.
Public Holiday – we have a public holiday on 7 May and I am looking forward to a long weekend and the possibilities of the weekend.
Quicker – getting quicker that is. I am working on my personal best for completing 5 kilometres.
Reading – this year I have been able to really get into the books I have been trying to read both on the Kindle and Audible and I love it. I used to read on the commute to and from work and so would read a couple of books a week so have really missed that. I am not reading that volume but I am back reading.
Sanding – I still need to sand down the blue dresser that we bought on the Facebook buy swap sell groups. I have sanded down almost the whole of the top of the dresser but I am not very strong and it took forever to do that much. I have bought some paint stripper now so I plan to use that over the coming weeks and then sand and either varnish or stain the dresser which will hopefully look as gorgeous as I have in mind.
Tea – I have really been enjoying a cup of tea after dinner in the evening and the cooler weather means it is perfecting tea drinking weather.
Understand – I have mentioned before on the blog how difficult and confusing it can be to work out what foods I should / shouldn’t be eating to achieve my health goals. I am learning more about this every day with the help of the fabulous lady who is preparing meal plans for me and the plan is to keep developing this knowledge so I have the skills and information to plan my goods in the future.
Victoria – my name and a cop out but I really couldn’t think of anything else!
Walks – I am looking forward to getting out and doing some walks and hikes around the Brisbane area. It’s been too hot and sunny to do the bigger walks that I have wanted to do for the last few months so now we can get out and about.
Xplore – Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and everywhere in between. Queensland is a beautiful state which so much I want to see and do from kayaking to climbing Mount Coot-Tha and I am hoping we can get a start on those goals.
Yoga – I am still looking to give yoga or pilates a try and hoping that will help reduce the soreness I end up with from the gym from time to time.
Zoo – There are a few zoo’s around our part of Queensland but I am hoping that we manage to get to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary again so I can hug a Koala! I love those little furry creatures.
