July has been a brilliant month for me as my family were here for just under three weeks and I have loved lots of things! Below I am briefly touching on some of them but plan to write full blog posts about our adventures in the next few weeks!
Family time – I couldn’t write this post without talking about spending time with my family. It was just perfect, the time went quickly but didn’t feel rushed which was good. We did the tourist thing around Brisbane, visited Sydney and the Blue Mountains, celebrated my Dad’s 70th birthday, relaxed on the Gold Coast and just made so many wonderful memories. I am hoping to be able to arrange for us to visit the UK for Christmas this year now so we can continue the memories.
Sydney! – I will do a (or several) blog post about our trip to Sydney. I fell in love with the city. I loved the hustle and bustle, the skyline, the touristy bits and that we just walked and walked and walked! I hope to be able to plan another trip there next year so we can explore some more.
Mamma Mia Here We go Again – I saw the theatre show for the first movie, I don’t know how long ago. Then I went with my parents to see it before the movie was released and it became a family favourite. When we saw the movie was out but released the day my family left Brisbane I was a bit sad but then I remembered most of the cinemas do previews the night before the release so I set about finding tickets for us to go see the movie on their last night. We loved the movie, the storyline was great and wasn’t just for the sake of making another movie and the soundtrack was fantastic. Cher’s appearance really topped of a fantastic movie. We would highly recommend going to see it if you loved the first movie and / or Abba.
The Breaker Upperers – this is a movie I have looked forward to seeing for so long. It is made by the same, I think Producers, who made The Hunt of The Wilderpeople which is quite possibly one of my all time favourite movies (seriously you need to watch it!) so I had high expectations. The movie was not as good as the Hunt but was very funny. It had two very strong female characters doing all the things we usually don’t see women doing in a movie. The story line was a bit far fetched at times but it really didn’t change my view of the movie. I would definitely watch it again if the opportunity presented itself.
