New Job Time

February 24, 2019 by Vicky Leave a Comment

In just a few days I will be finishing work for my current employer and commencing work with a new company in the City.

The opportunity came around quite unexpectedly and was a bit whirlwind really but it feels like the right move for me in my career and to get me where I want to be.

I am quite excited about the new opportunity and all the challenges which it will bring along. I know also it is going to be a big change for me, which is a bit scary, and the move is going to really push me but that is the very exciting part because I think this will help me become a great lawyer.

Happy Valentines Day

February 14, 2019 by Vicky Leave a Comment

A year ago today I was granted my permanent residency in Australia so Valentines Day is a bit of a special day because the whole visa process and waiting for the permanent residency took a long long time but was also quite worrying and stressful.

It seemed quite amusingly timed that it was granted on Valentines Day when I had applied for a De Facto Partner Visa! I don’t know if it was deliberately done by Immigration or just happened that way!

Either way as from today I can apply for Citizenship in Australia so I will be putting things in to place so I can apply for Citizenship soon. I think it will then be about a year until I should be granted citizenship, fingers crossed any way.

I know that Valentines Day is still very commercial but I hope that you have a lovely Valentines Day with your loved ones x

Visiting the Natural Bridge

January 23, 2019 by Vicky Leave a Comment

Early in January we had some friends from Darwin visit and whilst they were he we paid a visit to the Gold Coast to catch up with Naomi and have lunch with a couple of her lovely friends who we have previously met and spent time with.

On our way back we went off the track and drove to Natural Bridge which is in Springbook National Park.

The Aussie and I previously visited Natural Bridge shortly after moving to Brisbane and he had also been recently when he went hiking with one of his friends who was visiting but it is definitely a place to visit again and again so when I was trying to think of somewhere to visit on the way back from the Gold Coast this seemed like the perfect choice.

You will find Natural Bridge on Nerang Murwillumbah Road and Bakers Road which is at the end of a very long and windy road (I don’t remember it being this windy last time)!

Natural Bridge is well known for, well the natural bridge which is a rock formation, formed by the force of the waterfall over a cave but also because within that cave lives glow worms.

There is a 1km circuit walk in a clockwise direction. To begin with you descend towards the cave where you can try and spot the glow worms and then come back up through the rainforest. There are various points to stop along the track where you can see the the cave and waterfall as well.

It was lovely and cool and shady on the walk because we were surrounded by a canopy of trees which is great, especially if you fancy a visit during the middle of summer like we did.

Unfortunately we didn’t spot any glow worms on either of our visits but it was quite bright outside the cave and just means that we will just have to go again!

On the way back we also stopped off at Hinze Dam which is a 3700 acre resevoir at Advancetown. It appeared you couldn’t swim there but there appeared to be opportunities for fishing and sailing / boating and from reading around there are walking and horse riding routes in and around the lake.

10 Movies

January 13, 2019 by Vicky Leave a Comment

Just before Christmas, if you are a Facebook user, you will have seen a movie tag going around. The concept being:

“XX nominated me for the 10-Day Movie Challenge. Every day I must select an image from a film that has impacted me in some way, present it without explanation, then nominate another to accept the challenge. I nominate XX”

I was caught by the tag and shared my 10 movies on my personal Facebook account but thought it would be good to also share them here so here they are in the order I posted them on Facebook.

I am not always keen on the “tags” that go around on Facebook and I don’t like the chain letter posts / messages but decided I would participate in this one because it made me really think about the 10 movies which have impacted on me but it was also interesting to see what my friends and family selected as well.

What 10 movies did you share / would you have shared if you were tagged?
