In the run up to Christmas the Aussie and I spent a weekend in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Whilst there we decided to pop in to Draculas Haunted House.
In October last year we had visited the Draculas Cabaret event and were a little bit disappointed. I had heard that the haunted house was on the Gold Coast but had been put of by our cabaret experience which you can read about here.
We were in the area and spotted the Haunted House. One of the people we were with were keen to give it a go and so we thought why not and headed in.
At the Haunted House you get in an old fashioned style lift and get taken up to the fourth floor and begin making your way down the building by walking through the various floors which are the Underworld, Phobias, Carnival of Freaks and the Dead Zone.
I am a bit of a horror chicken and can’t watch horror movies at least not without watching some kind of comedy afterwards (a palate cleanser if you will!) so I was a bit apprehensive at the start. There were elements that did make us jump or scream and also parts which made us laugh or shriek in a good way!
Overall the trip was good fun and would be great for a group of friends to scare and laugh your way through.
The entry cost was $25 per adult (I can see from the website that it is $19 per child and $76 for a family) which is fairly reasonable when you look at the cost of some attractions on the Gold Coast and we did see groups of friends as well as families walking through the doors whilst we waited so it seemed popular.
I would recommend the Haunted House over the Cabaret event but it really depends whether you are looking for a night out or not.
