We had another busy but very fun weekend this weekend spent with friends and meeting new people.
As I mentioned in my last post we stayed in a hotel in the city. I’d booked the room through wotif.com and I decided to go for the mystery room where you get a bit of basic information and then find out where you booked after you have paid your money.
We stayed at the Mantra on the esplanade and were very pleased to stay there as that’s the hotel we booked when we stayed in the city on New Year’s Eve.
Below was our view of the Esplanade
After checking in and getting ready to go out which was fun as I had a chance to get dressed up we headed out for dinner at a restaurant called Ruby’s in the CBD.
The food was delicious and below is a picture of the yummy scallops. They were amazing!
I also spotted the cocktails on the menu. I used to go out for cocktails with my girlfriends who I met in work in the UK and miss them heaps so my piña colada reminded me of dinner with them.
After dinner we went to the movies and watched Lone Survivor. The film was very good and really brings home to you what our armed forces go through during wars and conflict. It was a bit too graphic in places and I couldn’t watch the screen then but enjoyed the film.
After a lovely night out we went back to the hotel and unfortunately the extremely annoying noise we heard when we got there was still going strong so we were moved to a new room.
This meant that we were moved to an apartment in the hotel which was really nice and came complete with a washing machine!
Unfortunately just as we were going to sleep the fire alarm went off so the hotel had to evacuate and wait for the fire brigade! Many pj wearing and bleary eyed people were seen that night!
Luckily it was a false alarm after someone pushed the fire button so we went back to bed and got a good nights sleep.
