After our eventful Saturday the rest of our weekend was lots of fun as well.
Up until Christmas we used to listen to a DJ on the radio called Ivor Cole. His show was always a mixture of great music, interesting stories and even several nights listening to the reading of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which was pretty cool.
Unfortunately he is no longer on the radio but we heard that he was going to have an art show early in February and despite our best efforts we couldn’t work out when it was happening.
We checked out of the hotel and planned to pop to Nightcliff Markets which are on every Sunday but heard a news piece on the radio about the art show and where we could go see it.
We popped along and found the show and had a wander round enjoying the art which was pretty cool. The pieces were for sale but unfortunately the pieces I liked were already sold. The Aussie asked whether Ivor had been to the gallery much after the opening and was told it was unlikely but a few minutes later he arrived so we got to meet and chat with him for a bit.
Ivor is a Brit and even knew the town where I come from so it was lovely chatting about my hometown.
After that we popped to Nightcliff Markets and had a wander around followed by some lunch. The markets are full of little stalls with fresh home cooked food, drinks like smoothies and nic knack type items. We enjoyed a juice drink and some pork in plum sauce whilst listening to one of the local artists singing away. It’s such a great place to visit and hang out.
Then to finish off our jam packed weekend we headed over to the PINT Club in Marrara to enjoy the First Sunday Blues which I will talk about more in another post soon.
It was also an opportunity for the Aussie to meet my friends from work in Darwin which he took in his stride and we had a great afternoon chatting, listening to the music and playing musical tables in an effort to stay in the shade.
We finished the night with dinner at a Chinese restaurant down the road making plans for our adventures to come!
