A few weeks ago I visited Melbourne with three of my friends from Darwin and we had a ball!
The Aussie lived in Melbourne before he moved to Darwin so I really wanted to visit the city. We didn’t quite get round to it so when the opportunity came up to visit I jumped at it especially when it also meant a girls weekend away.
We saw and did a lot and I was thinking of sharing it in just one blog post but looking at my photos again that would be really hard to do so I will break down our adventures by the days.
My first impression as we landed was how much Melbourne countryside reminded me of the UK countryside (sorry about the kind of blurry picture)
I also thought that Melbourne’s CBD looked very much like London which is one of my favourite cities.
We arrived very early Friday morning and we’re staying at the Ibis on Little Bourke Street which was a pretty nice hotel and very local to the CBD and what we wanted to see and do.
Little Bourke Street was also a cool street to walk down, especially down through China Town which was full of fantastic shops and places to eat.
On our first day we had to wait to check into our hotel and so dropped off our bags at the hotel and headed towards Spencer Street where we found Spencer Street Outlet Centre. The shopping scene in Melbourne was amazing, but we didn’t have the time or luggage space to really get into it!
We did stop for macaroons and coffee though which were pretty spectacular!
Tiredness from our flight got the best of us a bit after a while so we ended up taking a bit of a nap in the afternoon before our evening shenanigans which I will talk about in another post I think! Below are some other pictures I took around Melbourne on our first day there.
(As I come from Somerset in the UK I always get excited when I see a place is called Somerset!)
