I love Christmas and part of the excitement leading up to Christmas is waiting for certain television adverts to release. This year is no exception and I have loved seeing the adverts for the first time and watching them every now and then.
Here are a selection of the adverts for companies which I have been looking forward to:
This year and last year Heathrow Airport have featured the same bears who are very cute. This years advert is about the bears making it home in time for Christmas and it rings so true for me and the Aussie as we are flying to the UK for Christmas with my family this year. It also makes me a bit happy tearful because I know we will be at home this year.
This isn’t a festive video but it is the Christmas advert released by Iceland supermarkets in the UK which was actually banned from being shown on tv for being “too political”. This is a video which is heartbreaking and in my mind is very important to share so people can be educated about palm oil and change can happen. You can read more about the advert being banned here.
3) John Lewis
John Lewis is a big department store in the UK and usually nail the Christmas Advert. This years advert definitely evokes the emotions and is a great advert featuring Elton John but it is not, to me at least, their greatest Christmas advert. I have enjoyed watching it though and would say that it helps get you into the festive spirit.
4) Marks and Spencers
Not as cute as they have managed in previous years but a fun glimpse around what they have to offer for Christmas.
This is a lovely sweet advert and bought a smile to my face. The kids are so so cute and it will be an advert that you won’t get bored of because of all of the different elements. My favourite bit (other than the very adorable singer) is the plug’s grand entrance!!!
The theme of this advert is bringing Christmas home and it is a very funny advert. I really would like to think that on 1 December 2018 Santa fires off a cannon to bring Christmas home!
Poor Kevin the Carrot! I have seen that there is a campaign to save Kevin from the Parsnip. I am looking forward to seeing how this all plays out and whether Kevin has other adventures.
I really enjoy the Lidl adverts because they always have a fun element. This year Jenny has turkey and an orchestra in her dining room!! Another advert which makes you smile.
Lidl has also responded to the John Lewis advert and it is really quite amusing. I think Lidl 1 John lewis 0 on that count!
9) Coca Cola
Holidays are coming! The Coco Cola lorry is on the move again to deliver the goods. The song hasn’t changed for a few years now, if ever, and the content is the usual but you know it is Christmas when you hear that “holidays are coming” jingle.
Overall I would say that the Heathrow Airport advert is my all out winner this Christmas, although the Iceland advert is extremely important and needs to be seen which is why I included it.
Of all of the adverts which is your favourite or do you have another one which you love?
