Apparently I am now 36 years old today. I say apparently because for over half of the last year I have been convinced that I am 34, turning 35 when giving my age. I realised my actual age one day when adding my age to my settings on the treadmill and it was a bit of a surprise. Just under half a year later and I was just about ready for 36!
I will be in Bali with the Aussie and some our friends when this goes live and intend to be relaxing by the pool and eating good food!
I was going to write a 36 things about me post but found that a bit of a struggle so instead I asked some of the people in my life to answer some questions about me to see what they said!

School friend Becky
1. How long have you known me and how did we meet?
September 1993, class 7D, we were in Mr Davey’s form at Chilton Trinity School, Bridgwater, Somerset, UK. 24 years ago. Although my earliest memory of you was in science class – I seem to recall we weren’t too keen on each other initially!
2. What is your favourite memory for us?
Gosh this is hard. I could say all the fun nights out and misbehaving with you and the girls in Bridgie and Brissol, drinking woowoos!
I could also say all those hours when we were teens rabbiting away on the phone, talking utter nonsense.
And who could forget dossing about in history class, winding Mr Stevenson up, or in IT trying to avoid our dodgy teacher (me accidentally smacking him, thinking it was you messing around!) or in PE where we felt like the ‘special’ pair, you wolloping a tennis ball half way across school and me running around like an obiedient Collie trying to retrieve the bloody thing. And of course.. there’s the notorious french study trips too!!
But what my favourite memory is a more recent one. You being at our wedding. You doing the photos at mums before we headed to the ceremony, sharing that my very special and exclusive moment with you and also you doing your beautiful reading at the ceremony. I swelled with pride seeing you up there doing your piece. You flying over to share our special day meant the absolute world to me.
3. What would you say is my biggest achievement?
Australia.
Leaving Blighty along with your friends and family (who mean the whole world to you) relocating abroad, moving in with your man, finding a job, making a living, making new friends, doing that God awful visa application and redoing all those law qualifications to make you Aussie-friendly. It’s one of the many things I love about you, your grit and determination, not letting obstacles get in your way.
4. What movie, song or book would you recommend I try?
Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography. Not your average rock star.
5. What do you think I should / would I be if I was not a lawyer?
Travel photographer and blogger.
6. What would be your one piece of advice for me in the next twelve months?
Your health goals are an absolute inspiration, keep going, you’ve totally got this.
Jenna who I met in Darwin
1. How long have you known me and how did we meet?
We met in 2013. I can’t remember the exact month, I’m thinking October? (Let me know if you remember – it was!!!). We worked together for a few months. Now you’re stuck with me forever, you poor thing! 🙂
2. What is your favourite memory for us?
We’ve had a lot of great times together but our trip to Melbourne was pretty special. I always giggle when I think about some of the funny selfies we took on that trip. Also the beat boxing taxi driver…
3. What would you say is my biggest achievement?
I’d have to say in the time we’ve known each other there’s been a few achievements I need to acknowledge (it’s too hard for me to pick which is the biggest)
– your move from the U.K. to Darwin (river). How courageous! It takes a very strong person to start again in a unfamiliar place on the other side of the world, I know I could never do it.
– Getting your Australian practising certificate! All that hard work paid off!!
– Your fitness and weight loss journey is definitely an achievement you should be proud of. You are an inspiration to me! (Stop walking!! I can’t keep up with your steps!)
4. What movie, song or book would you recommend I try?
Wow! I don’t have an answer for this as at least once a week one of us is texting the other with a recommendation. I’m sure I’ll recommend a song to you within the next few days! 🙂
5. What do you think I should / would I be if I was not a lawyer?
Aca-scuse me, a Bella of course! Or you could be the Kardashians publicist. Haha!! On a serious note, I could see you being a travel blogger. It would combine your love for writing, photography and travel into one. It’s a perfect job for you.
6. What would be your one piece of advice for me in the next twelve months?
Keep being you! you’re an incredible person who I am proud to call my friend.
It has been so lovely reading everyones answers to my questions, I even shed a few happy tears at the things everyone said. Such a great way to celebrate another year older!
