You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
You’ve been a’messin’ where you shouldn’t ‘ve been a’messin’
And now someone else is getting all your best
These boots are made for walking
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
It’s been a really busy time what with packing and work and enjoying the outdoors. I’ve been mindful not to give up on my exercise though and I’ve involved the Aussie and Naomi (and anyone else who’s interested) in my walks around Brisbane. I’ve really enjoyed them and my times continue to get quicker and quicker. Who would have known that I could even do that!!! I can excitedly say that I’ve lost 39kg or the weight of a healthy 11 year old girl. They do say that if I lose the weight, it appears on someone else’s thighs. I’m sorry for whoever it’s ended up on.
I’ve done Parkrun at a couple of places – Kirra on the Gold Coast, Seventeen Mile Rocks is an oldie but a goodie, a new one (well new to me!) at St Lucia and ever faithful Manly. I put Accusations have been made that if Naomi and I didn’t talk so much that times would get even faster. I choose to ignore that because if I’m walking and breathing then that’s a huge amount more than I was doing even 12 months ago. Me, the Aussie and Naomi also did the RSPCA Million Paws Walk which was cute beyond description. We were “harassed” by the lady at the Dulux stand to go into the draw to win an oversized stuffed Dulux dog toy. You wouldn’t believe it, but I won!!!!! And so in the absence of me having actual puppers, I’ve got a large stuffed sheep dog taking pride of place on the lounge room chair (well it will in the new place!) and I may pat it routinely. I’m not admitting to anything!!!
It’s gotten to the point where I’ve even worn out my trainers. My old ones are looking very … worn … and I’m looking forward to breaking in the new ones. You’d think I was wrangling a horse the way I was talking but the colours are pretty, the arch supports excellent and they still have new trainer smell.
My eating plans have been varied and excellent although I am sick of the sight of apple cider vinegar. I can feel my body getting stronger and stronger every day and my attitude to food has changed a huge amount. Food is now more like fuel for my body rather than something that I just have to do without really thinking about it. I cook in the slow cooker a lot, plan my meals and eat probably five times a day. And snacks. I’ve found that I don’t really miss the sugar as much as I thought I would and I’m not so tempted by stuff that isn’t going to give me more energy to do what I want to do physically during the day. I had a session at the gym with my PT the other day where I did way more than I would normally, simply because I had the energy to do it. I can do sit ups and all manner of other good body work. I don’t remember ever having the motivation and the stamina to do that before. And I do miss it when I don’t exercise. Who would have guessed that?!?!?!
So we’re pretty much packed up and ready to move on Saturday (this post is going up the day after moving day). This is despite the real estate agent making what should be a straight forward process, much more difficult than it needs to be. That’s in addition to the owner being unrealistic in what he thinks can be done in terms of scheduling viewing, re-renting the place and a “generous” description of what is a fundamental house. And so with more oomph because of my good eating and exercise and the drive to move into a bigger, better place as the song says “One of these days these boots are going to walk all over you”
Thanks Nancy Sinatra for the inspiration!
